Who doesn’t love a fun weekend away with some of your favorite girls renting an Airbnb cottage in a quaint little town with a short walk to main street where all the restaurants and little shops are, visiting wineries, tasting new wines and taking tours?
We all had such an amazing weekend in Cottonwood, AZ. We stayed in a Airbnb named Prickly Pear Guest House and Prickly Pear Penthouse. It was so cute and very clean! I would highly recommend it as we had a great experience! There were 7 girls and not one of us had a compliant. It was perfect!
We drove up on a Friday afternoon and stopped at Alcantara Vineyards & Winery on our way. It was my least favorite of the wineries but the service was fantastic. I will also say it was my least favorite because I didn’t love the wines I CHOSE to try…. That being said, I will still go back and try it again only make different selections of wines. They have a really cute chapel area for weddings which had really pretty views.
Friday night we ate at the Tavern Grille on main street and the food was good, I only tried the quesadilla they had on the menu that night but we all enjoyed our food. After dinner we walked over to Kactus Kates (a local bar) which was quite interesting…. lol. We were the only people there for an hour or so but we made it fun! The employees were very friendly and kind which made the experience better. If you decide to go there, expect a typical local bar in a small town. =)
Saturday was the day we were most excited for! We had a driver pick us up to drive us around the wineries that day. Her name was Pat and she was seriously the sweetest, kindest lady I have ever met! She is the owner of Angel 1 Transportation and Tours. Their website is sedonalimodriver.com. If you plan to visit Cottonwood or Sedona, I highly recommend using Pat. In addition to her driving us, she was knowledgeable about the area and every winery we visited she introduced us to the owners and we received discounts on our tastings. She was fantastic!
Our first winery was Page Springs and we took a tour of the area and wine cellar. It was so pretty to walk around outside and to learn about the process. I really loved a few of the wines I tried there and purchased 4 bottles to bring home and still love it just as much as that day.
Our second stop was Javelina Leap Vineyard and Winery. We ate lunch there and it was very yummy. I had a flatbread and their chocolate truffle (Oh my! So so good!) The wine however didn’t work for me. I didn’t sample one that I liked. But again, I chose which ones I thought I might like so thats on me. I would still recommend you go try it and definitely get the chocolate truffle! lol.
Our third stop was Oak Creek Vineyards and Winery, I will say this was my second favorite for wine but least favorite for scenery. They had some cute wine decor for sale and everyone that was there that day really seemed to be enjoying themselves and the atmosphere.
Our last winery was DA Ranch! This was MY FAVORITE for scenery! The grounds were so beautiful! They have a log cabin with a swing hanging from a huge tree, fire pit areas for roasting marshmellows, beautiful ponds with fountains and horses nearby and of course all the grape vines. It was truly beautiful! By the time we made it to this winery we were pretty “wined out”! Therefore, we ordered two bottles a Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé and shared it. They were delicious! Saturday night we ate at Bocci which is an Italian restaurant and I had a thin crust pizza which was good. Everyone around us was friendly and kind. The service was fantastic! As we walked back to our cottage we passed by Kactus Kates and decided we would stop by for one last night of fun! It was a little busier on Saturday night and everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying their time there.
Sunday we checked out of our Airbnb and had brunch at an adorable place called Crema Craft Kitchen & Bar! I had breakfast tacos which were fantastic! I am craving one as I type this out! The food was so good as well as the bloody mary!
We had lots of fun visiting Cottonwood, AZ and can’t wait to plan another visit! There was so much more that we all wanted to do but ran out of time. If you haven’t ever considered this little town for a little getaway, I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you live in the Phoenix area, its such a short drive and feels so quaint and relaxing!

Erica
